A 1 Gbps broadband service may offer more headline bandwidth than a lower-capacity DIA circuit.

Diversity Should Be Designed, Not Assumed
Ordering a second connection doesn’t automatically create resilience.
Two circuits may ultimately share physical infrastructure, network paths, data centre components or other common points of failure.
A resilient architecture should therefore consider what failure the secondary service is actually intended to protect against.
This may include diversity of:

- Network paths

Not every organisation needs diversity at every level.
The objective is to understand the relevant failure domains and design the network around the business’s tolerance for disruption.
